Reception - Peach and Plum 2021 - 2022

Welcome to Reception 2021/2022 class page

Hello Peaches and Plums!

Peach Class - Your Teachers are Mrs Thompson (Mon,Tues) and Mrs King (Weds,Thurs,Fri)

Mrs Rodger and Miss Gormley are our wonderful Teaching Assisstants.

Plum Class - Your Teacher is Mr Davies

Mrs Cogley and Mrs Gormley are our wonderful Teaching Assisstants.

We are looking forward to another wonderful Summer term in Reception, where we will learn LOTS and have LOTS of fun!

PE for Plum class is Wednesday and for Peach class is Thursday - please come to school dressed in your PE kit, which can be kept on throughout the day.

Reading - We will read with children throughout the week, so please make sure your child has their bookbag in school every day, along with their school reading book and reading record (diary). Please re-read your child's book with them a minimum of 3 times during the week, as this helps them to build confidence and fluency with their reading.

We provide the children with a reading book matched to their phonic ability - to be read by the child, to an adult, as well as a seperate book from our school library to be shared at home to help the children develop a love of reading for pleasure.

Both the phonics book, and the library book will be changed once a week - usually on a Monday.

During Summer term we are focusing on two main texts - Silly Doggy! in Summer 1 and Supertato in Summer 2. We already have lots of exciting learning experiences planned for the children, but if your child becomes interested by something in particular please let us know, as we love to ensure our lessons are enhanced with the children's own interests and questions. An overview of what your child will be learning this half term is available to download by clicking on the "Summer overview" tab at the top of this page.

If you have any questions or worries at any time, about anything related to school, please do just ask any of the Reception Team - we are all more than happy to help.

Stay safe and take care,

The Reception Team
