World Book Day 2019, by Mrs Sullivan

Date: 7th Mar 2019 @ 2:36pm

Today has been very exciting! Mrs Sullivan came to school as a mysterious character and we had to discover who she was. We asked her all sorts of questions and wrote a fantastic description of her character. She had a tall, top hat and a slim curly moustach. She lived in the Place Between and hates children. Her long emerald, green cloak shone like shiny amethysts. Her age is a mystery but we know it is a number btween 100 and 200.

The children looked fabulous in their World Book Day costumes and had lots of fun!

Pancake Day, by Mrs Sullivan

Today we have looked at the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand from five samll loaves and two fishes. We thought it was amazing how something so small was magnified into something so huge. We share a post-it note sized pancake to recreate that day and to imagine what it felt like.

The children were asked what they would like magnified to share around the world.

Jessica - I want to magnify love around the world.

Amelia - I want food and love magnified to feed the homeless.

Ashish - I want to magnify kindness so that everyone feels valued.

Year 4 had a wonderful time visiting the World Museum to further their study of the  Ancient Greeks . They had opportunitites to develop their knowledge of history left behind through clay pots and the images which told interesting stories about the olympic games and gods and Goddesses.

After this the children moved on to the Walker Art Gallery where they took part in a workshop to depict a mythical story from a piece of artwork. The children were asked to write their own story ending and they even got to dress up and act it out!

After lunch they visited the Ancient Greek sculptures, which were fascinating. They were able to choose their favourite sculpture to sketch in their art books.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and they were a credit to the school.
